Chapter 766: Forming A Team

This had been one of the old prisoner and judge’s concerns. Both of them were confused as to how Mr. Lin managed to enter the Nine-Heaven Realm on his own.

And now, they know.

Since he could control a profound immortal level beast, entering the Nine-Heaven Realm wouldn’t be hard for him. Especially when he didn’t have to fear the immortal devouring beast and had a Rank 7 beast to protect him. He didn’t have to fear the immortal beasts here at all. That was why he could be so confident.

The old prisoner had already decided to perform Mortal Conversion. He didn’t want to miss this opportunity.

The judge was still hesitant, but then, he finally made his decision and went over.

When Lin Jin saw the vertical eye on the judge’s forehead, he knew the judge must have a deep cultivation level. He must be a profound immortal. There were a few other profound immortals in this prison too, but this one was great at concealing his status. On the surface, he looked like a half immortal at best.

“Mr. Lin comes from the mainland of the mortal world. What is your purpose for coming to this Nine-Heaven Realm?” the judge asked, making Lin Jin frown.

“I don’t think I’m obliged to tell you that.” Lin Jin didn’t plan on revealing his motives. Such intentions were better off not known to many.

The judge immediately waved. “You’ve mistaken, Mr. Lin. I used to be the immortal dynasty’s Rank 6 judge. The path of immortality has been destroyed for two thousand years now and can’t be repaired. If Mr. Lin didn’t come here, we wouldn’t have been able to escape death. With this, you are naturally our benefactor. Now that the Nine-Heaven Realm is without a leader, and you just happen to be here with the knowledge of blood contract cultivation, I’m sure you will achieve great things. I am not a skilled person but I would like to serve you. I hope you will accept my request.”

Having said that, the judge saluted respectfully.

The man was still a profound immortal now, and it was Lin Jin’s first time receiving such a grand salute from a profound immortal.

However, his words did indeed make Lin Jin consider.

It was quite a tempting offer.

An even more direct meaning would be asking Lin Jin to establish a new system, something like the immortal dynasty, and rule the nine heavens, becoming the monarch of them all.

Anyone would be interested in such an offer, Lin Jin was no exception.

But soon, Lin Jin regained his senses.

This wasn’t his aim at all. At first, he had indeed thought of pursuing immortality. But after experiencing so many things, he became indifferent and thought that being mortal wasn’t so bad after all. Rather than immortality, he preferred to have a carefree life.

What did he mean by carefree?

A life where no one could threaten him would be the prerequisite.

Hence, Lin Jin came all the way here in hopes of helping Xiao Huo advance to Rank 8, perhaps even Rank 9. His goal wasn’t to defeat the immortal devouring beast either, but to achieve a certain balance. If the immortal devouring beast ever changed its mind and attacked him, at least he would have the means to counter.

Also, Lin Jin lacked a sense of security which specifically started after he transmigrated into this world. He wouldn’t be able to even sleep peacefully if he didn’t have a way of countering during emergencies, especially after learning that there was a beast that could destroy the world living right above his head.

More importantly, he would have left things as they were if he didn’t have the strength to fight back. After all, everyone else was getting by just fine and feigning ignorance. Lin Jin could do that too.

But he had the strength and a guide to evolve his pet beasts.

That was why he chose this path.

Also, he had a tendency to count just how many enemies he had whenever he had time. He actually had a lot. If Lin Jin wasn’t strong enough to defeat them, those guys might just come banging on his door the next day.

And some enemies would surely show up—that, Lin Jin was sure of.

So he wasn’t interested in building a dynasty. But if it was a small team that would help him gather the items he needed and help Xiao Huo evolve, he would like that.

After thinking it through, Lin Jin didn’t reject the offer. It was great that someone wanted to support him, and he did need help.

At that moment, Xiao Huo and the hybrid beast returned. They actually caught a Rank 7 beast, a huge peacock overflowing with ice energy.

Mixed in the peacock’s proud gaze was reluctance. It couldn’t do anything but be Xiao Huo and the hybrid beast’s captive as Xiao Huo’s attribute naturally rivaled its own.

“It really is a profound immortal level beast!” The inventory supervisor was thrilled. He himself was only at peak half immortal realm after all, yet to break through to profound immortal realm.

And this ice peacock was a powerful creature. He would have had a hard time going against one, but now, he could actually control it through a blood pact.

With a companion like this, what was so bad about abandoning his own cultivation?

He could objectively tell whether the gains outweighed the losses in such a case.

Then, he performed Mortal Conversion and formed a blood pact with this ice peacock. What he didn’t know was that Lin Jin had forced the blood contract. Otherwise, he couldn’t have successfully contracted a profound immortal level beast.

Time passed and more than half of the immortals in the prison chose Mortal Conversion. Lin Jin was in charge of capturing the beasts and helping the immortals with their blood contracts.

These immortals chose to give up their cultivation and become mortals, even if they didn’t have much time to live anymore. And after converting back to a mortal, some might not even have ten years left to live.

To immortals, ten years would pass like the snap of a finger. But for mortals, they could do so many things.

Also, they would have opportunities to find ways to extend their lifespans after leaving the prison. That was surely better than being cooped up there and prolonging their feeble existence. At least there was another option now.

Some chose to leave while others chose to stay.

Many immortals were still reluctant to part with their centuries or even millenniums worth of cultivation. They chose to stay, and because they had extensive cultivation and long lives, they could afford to wait.

Lin Jin wouldn’t force them. These were adults who had lived for thousands of years. He didn’t have to worry about their future for them.

But one thing for sure was that after this opportunity, there would be no other one like this. Once Lin Jin left, it would be too late for regrets.

And so, Lin Jin left the prison. More than ten former immortals followed him out. At first, these people were still apprehensive, afraid they might attract the immortal devouring beast. But as time passed, they fully digested the fact that the creature wouldn’t attack mortals.

And this comforted them a lot.

“Mr. Lin, you don’t actually have to visit the immortal empress’ garden for Golden Tian Luo Pills. You can just visit Tianzun’s room as most of the Golden Tian Luo Pills were crafted by him,” the inventory supervisor proposed.

Lin Jin’s eyes lit up.

What a great idea! After all, Cai Die couldn’t be sure that there were still Golden Tian Luo Pills in the immortal empress’ garden. The chances of Tianzun’s room having them were much greater.

More importantly, that room contained the Heaven & Earth Furnace. If he was lucky enough, Xiao Huo could advance to Rank 8 on this trip..
