I Became the Hero Who Banished the Protagonist - Chapter 0: Life is about timing.
There is a common saying: life is all about timing.
Whether it’s buying and selling stocks, the push and pull in a relationship, the misthrow that comes in at the end of the 9th inning with two tiebreakers, or a 5-on-5 fight in mid, it’s all about the timing. No matter how welcome it is, there will only be curses if it doesn’t happen at the right time.
So, what’s the big deal?
Because that’s precisely the situation I’m in right now.
“Are you crazy?!”
On a peaceful, warm spring afternoon, I was jolted out of my slumber by someone’s scream, and I blinked my open. I’d fallen asleep sitting at my desk, but it was very classy looking for a desk. The finish was excellent, and the surface was shiny, like someone had just waxed and polished it.
“Oh, so now you’re just not going to explain?”
I absentmindedly rubbed my hand across the desk. A fly on the table flies up and dodges my hand. Truly one of the evils of this world.
BANG
“You-!!!”
The sound of someone slamming the desk. I raised my head and looked at the owner of the voice. A woman. ‘Was she in her early to mid-twenties?’ I wondered if I’d ever seen a woman so beautiful in my life. She was a dark-eyed woman with rich, luscious blond hair down to her waist. Her eyes shone like sapphires, beautiful yet terrifying, as they were filled with anger.
“Okay, if you’re just going to sit there like that, stupid and not explain anything, then I’m going to leave this damn party because I’d much rather be working for Arjen than you.”
‘Leave the party? Arjen?’
Then, against my will, my mouth fell open.
“Who says you can just walk out of this party?”
‘Why is my voice so rough?’
A low voice, full of narcissism and swagger, came out of my mouth. However, they weren’t my words, but the woman who heard me snorted in disbelief.
“Ha! Who cares what you think? I can do as I please. You can’t keep me here, and you know it.”
“Wait-”
I blurted out, but I quickly stopped myself. The woman shook her head as if it wasn’t worth listening to. Her blonde hair moved along with her head.
“That’s it; I don’t want to hear from you anymore. Unless you want to cause friction with the Holy Land, don’t chase or even look for me from now on.”
Swish.
She turned and walked away. The door to this room, which appeared to be an office, opened, then closed with a slam. The blonde woman didn’t look back once, her shuffling footsteps fading down the hallway.
“…What a mess.”
It was another man’s bitter voice. I turned my head toward the sound, and a giant stared at me from the corner of the room.
“It’s one thing to kick Arjen out, but that’s two, including Iris just now.”
Arjen and Iris. The protagonist and the saintess. There was also a huge guy I’d never seen before. My head begins to spin. ‘Uh, huh? Is this the possession I’ve heard about… Wait. But whose body did I replace, where did the owner go, and why is she saying that to me?’
The giant delivers the final blow to my already disordered state of mind.
“So, what will you do about it, Hero?”
“………….”
Oh, shit. I’m fucked.
