Chapter 140: Black Dragon Gang Base! Man-made G.o.d!
Living his life a second time, Link knew that the Abyssal Realm and the Undead Army weren’t everything there was to the apocalypse. There were more terrifying existences that would descend on Blue Star later on.
If one wanted to survive, they would have to improve their capabilities and strengthen themselves constantly.
Outside the City Master’s Hall, Xue Linglong and the others stood by respectfully.
Yang Xuerou took a step forward and said solemnly, “City Master, according to the scouting over the past two days, many of the Black Dragon Gang’s strongholds in Dragon City have been abandoned.”
“After the sacrificial offering to the G.o.d of Evil, everyone in the Black Dragon Gang has gone into hiding, going underground and into the darkness. They are seemingly engaged in some deeper scheme.”
“We have also captured several peripheral members who have had contact with the Black Dragon Gang, but there’s no way to know their true purpose. It’s currently difficult to find traces of the Black Dragon Gang in Dragon City through conventional means.”
Not only was the Black Dragon Gang the No Retreat Army’s enemy, but also Unfallen City’s enemy.
After taking care of the Semi-Sage imprint, Link sent the [Doomsday Online] players under him to scout for news about the Black Dragon Gang.
It now seemed like the Black Dragon Gang was indeed still plotting something.
Communicating with the G.o.d of Evil was not their whole purpose. And lying low currently seemed more like the calm before the storm.
Link nodded slightly and asked, “Is there anything happening in the wilderness outside the city?”
In the wilderness outside Dragon City was the Epochal Ruins; the [Key of Relic] had always been in Link’s hands.
Previously, the siege had not begun, so the ruins could not be entered. However, the Epochal Ruins was now accessible.
But Link intended to resolve the unstable factor, the Black Dragon Gang, and completely develop Dragon City into a strong city before considering going to the ruins.
Based on the words of the Semi-Sage imprint before, Link guessed that certain existences in the abyss might know about the Epochal Ruins.
Some ancient organizations on Blue Star might even know these secrets. But even if they knew where the ruins were, the [Key of Relic] was in Link’s hands.
What Link was doing now was to see if he could lure these people out and obtain more truths about the apocalypse.
Yang Xuerou answered, “Most of the people in the wilderness are nearby exiles who have been comforted and taken in by the people we sent. There are also some powerful ones who don’t want to leave the wilderness to accept our shelter.”
“They could be from some powerful organizations that we’re still investigating.”
Is someone here already? It’s getting more and more interesting. It looks like we need to take care of the Black Dragon Gang as soon as possible, Link thought. The corners of his mouth twitched, and he stopped asking.
He looked at Xue Linglong and the others and solemnly commanded, “Go back and get ready. We will set off in two hours.”
Luo Xinghe and the others nodded without questions.
Yang Xuerou asked, “City Master, how many people should we send from Unfallen City this time? The Black Dragon Gang is not easy to deal with. Should we gather people above Stage Three?”
Link shook his head slightly. “We don’t need many people.”
The Black Dragon Gang had the ability to make people aberrated. If too many people went along, they might become a liability instead.
Two hours soon pa.s.sed, and everyone gathered again.
Link brought along Xue Linglong, Luo Xinghe, Zhao Yongkang, and one No Retreat Army Stage Four powerhouse—Li Geyang—and left Unfallen City.
The others, including the Stage Five blood shadow, stayed in the city to guard against unexpected events.
Zhao Yongkang was surprised and excited by Link’s efficiency. He had long wanted to eradicate the Black Dragon Gang and avenge his brother, who died in vain that day.
“City Master, it’s hard to trace the Black Dragon Gang now. Do you have clues that lead to them?”
Link nodded. One might not be able to locate the Black Dragon Gang using conventional means, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t find them.
He took out the [Mask of the Faceless]—which was full of madness and chaotic aura—and covered his face with it.
The mask, made of an unknown being’s leather, dissolved and molded to Link’s face.
His aura completely changed with it, permeating with madness and an indescribable aura.
The jet-black whirlpool pattern on the mask seemed to be rotating on its own, looking as if it could absorb one’s soul into it.
A faint whisper sounded as if there was an unknown presence chanting and instigating in the crowd’s ears.
“Madness, foolishness... Those are the essences of the universe...”
“Senses... Abandoning senses... that is the curse...”
...
But due to Link’s control, these whispers wouldn’t pollute Xue Linglong and the others’ spirit.
Also, with the [Mask of the Faceless] and the [Talisman of Eternal Sleep], Link was more sensitive to distorted auras. Hence, he was able to use it to pinpoint the Black Dragon Gang’s current location.
Link could feel that the place with the strongest distorted aura within Dragon City was the No Retreat Army’s original base. After all, that was the place where the Black Dragon Gang used to communicate with G.o.d of Evil and conduct rituals.
Outside the city, there was also a dense G.o.d of Evil’s aura, guiding the way like a lighthouse.
“Follow me,” said Link, and he went toward the direction of the Black Dragon Gang.
...
The outskirts of Dragon City.
Due to the Undead army’s ravaging, this place had long been uninhabited and desolate.
And this was just how it appeared to be.
A huge s.p.a.ce was carved out of the ground floor of a small, three-story villa.
Members of the Black Dragon Gang shuttled through different areas while wearing white lab coats.
Ordinary people, as well as some Undead monsters and even Spiderhumans—which had undergone deep aberration—were held in different areas divided by alloy doors.
Various experiments were constantly conducted by the Black Dragon Gang members as they recorded the corresponding data.
Many of them appeared sickly with sunken eyes.
Some of the Black Dragon Gang members’ bodies even appeared slightly aberrated. Such aberrations appeared in the forms of eyeb.a.l.l.s and mouths growing on the surface of their bodies. It looked incomparably bizarre.
Bas.e.m.e.nt three was Black Dragon Gang’s most private place. Only those with Black Dragon or Doctor Ghost could enter.
Large apparatuses, with transparent containers filled with a green viscous liquid, were everywhere.
In the transparent containers were human limbs and aberrated tissue. There were even a few large eyeb.a.l.l.s swimming in the green liquid—it was absolutely terrifying.
Some of the apparatuses here were derived from old world technology and had a sci-fi look.
The other apparatuses were new products created by Doctor Ghost by using his profession skills as a Craftsman, combined with old-world technology.
At this moment, Black Dragon—clad in a black robe and had a ghastly white face—stood beside Doctor Ghost.
And beside them was a young man wearing a hoodie. It was Jiang Cheng.
Doctor Ghost appeared excited as he introduced a pillar-shaped object—covered with black cloth—to both of them.
“This is the greatest achievement of this experiment. It can be an aberrant weapon that we can use. I call it—Man-made G.o.d!”
